Brett and I had been married for about 6 months, I wasn't working and his hours were cut down. We got to the point where we literally had 60 dollars to last us a week and half till his next payday. I didn't know what we were going to do. But we luckily have amazing parents who helped us out. They invited us over for dinners and sent us home with left overs. Now granted we had food in our cupboards but it wasn't gourmet-dinner-food. We were so grateful that our families were so willing to help us out.
In February we finally had our roof replaced. Getting it replaced meant that we had to pay for it...in full. We had luckily saved up enough to cover the roof and give us just a little left over for the next week. We decided to go buy a turkey and cook that. It fed us for the full week. Bretts dad heard about our situation and gave us some money too, and my parents invited us for dinner.
I dont know what we would do without our families. I am so grateful for them and for the support system that they are to us. We know that no matter what we can turn to them for anything. Seeing the donors at my work in this situation is heartbreaking. I am so grateful for my job, my husbands job, and our families. I also am so truly grateful for the hard times and trials that we have had. Because of them we have a better marriage and even a better friendship. Brett and I have been through so much together. More than a lot of people know. We have had some of the worst things possible happen to us but we have been able to get through them with each other.
